About Richard

Richard Gehrke was raised on small farm and attended school in Adams, ND graduating in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving 3 years and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged and attended Valley City State College and graduated after three years with a double major in Business and Physical Education.

In 1982, Rich, his wife Nancy and children Justin, Julie, and Joy moved to Hillsboro where he began working as the Branch Manager for First Federal Savings and Loan and later became an agent with Farmers Union Insurance in 1994.

Rich has faithfully served customers and the community with Farmers Union Insurance since 1994. He has a reputation as a trusted advisor to many. Rich’s long history of community involvement includes being active with Hillsboro Public Schools School Board, VFW, American Legion, Vets Club, Kiwanis, Food Pantry, Knights of Columbus, Sanford Foundation Hillsboro Golf Committee, Goose River Golf Club, St. Rose of Lima Church, Hillsboro Business Association, and many more.

Rich was inducted in the Hillsboro Public Schools “Hall of Fame” on June 20th, 2014 for his years of dedicated service.

Rich and his wife Nancy’s children all graduated from Hillsboro Public School. They have 6 grandchildren.
